Eddie Lagaali is back with the Wagga club for the 2020 season.
The rugby union convert played with Kangaroos in 2015 and 2016 and has linked back with the club from Wagga City.
Lagaali left Kangaroos midway through 2016 to help the Boiled Lollies on their way to making the Southern Inland grand final that season, before returning to the club last year, but new Kangaroos coach Hayden Ashcroft is confident a recommitted Laagali will be a big boost for the club.
"We've known about it for a little bit now and wasn't quite sure where he was heading but he's decided to commit, which is always good," Ashcroft said.
"He's been playing rugby union for the past few years and I'm confident he's keen to give rugby league a real crack.
"There's a big opportunity for him to play some good footy there, and we're relying on him to get himself fit, but he has a fair bit to offer.
"I'm pretty happy we've secured him."
Ashcroft believes Lagaali has plenty to offer the club.
With the ability to turn nothing into something Lagaali can create plenty of headaches for opponents.
However it's expected he'll play in a different role to his last stint at Kangaroos.
Used more as an outside back in the past, Ashcroft believes Lagaali will be used more in the forwards this time around.
"It is dependent on a few things but I wouldn't say centre at the moment but more edge back row and possibly play more in the middle," Ashcroft said.
"We've got West Wyalong (Knockout) coming up so it is a good opportunity for him to cover a few positions there.
"It will be trial and error to see what fits best."
Lagaali's signature comes on the back of Hayden Murphy coming to the club.
Kangaroos also won the race to sign former NSW Cup forward Craig Field late last year and with the new additions, including the coach, Ashcroft is pleased with how the team is shaping up.
"I think we'll be pushing for finals and hopefully we can keep getting fit and then we will shape pretty good and be pretty competitive," he said.
Meanwhile Group Nine has put another call out for nominations for their new women's tackle competition.
They are looking to introduce two age groups, opens and under 17s, with the season to be run before the start of the leaguetag competition.
The new competition is planned to kick off on February 21 with four rounds to be played leading into the finals on March 21.
Players must have turned 17 to be eligible for the opens, with teams not linked to the current Group Nine clubs.
A registration and training day will be held next Saturday, February 8.
The session is aimed at introducing those new to the game the fundamentals of the sport.
A barbecue will also be provided.
Expressions of interest in playing can be sent to group9seniors@gmail.com.
