Police have again appealed for information about the dumping of "butchered" sheep carcasses beside roads near Junee.
Riverina Police District Detective Inspector Adrian Telfer said 11 sheep appeared to have been "butchered" before being left beside the road along Danswans Lane at Marinna and Pattersons Road at Harefield.
Police attended both locations on January 20.
"Police are appealing for any information relation to last week when we received a report of 11 carcasses of sheep that were found in the area of Harfield," Inspector Telfer said.
"We are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward."
Inspector Telfer said police were aware of similar incidents that happened at the same time last year around Cootamundra.
"That is certainly one link that we are exploring but with every investigation it is only as good as the information we have and that is why we are appealing to the public," he said.
"There is someone out there who knows who is responsible for killing these sheep so we ask those people to come forward."
Inspector Telfer said police had not been able to identify the owners of the sheep, which had their ear tags removed.
"If you do believe you have had sheep stolen in the last seven days, please come forward," he said.
"We don't believe this is a random act of violence or animal cruelty. These sheep have been butchered and that does require some specialist knowledge.
"These carcasses were left on the side of the road, which is quite disturbing."
