Over 220 players will hit the fairways at Wagga Country Club for the annual 36-hole tournament that will offer $8500 in prizes for amateur golfers.
Another $1500 worth of prizes will be up for grabs in Monday's 4BBB Medley, with a shotgun start.
A quality field will assemble for the time-honoured City of Wagga Open, with defending champion Steve Betland returning from Forbes for the event.
Betland, who plays off a handicap of one, enjoyed a two-shot victory at last year's tournament.
Betland is expected to meet strong opposition from the likes of Carroll and previous winners Brian Harris and Luke Chisholm.
Carroll lost in a thrilling play-off to Harris two years ago.
Wagga Country Club secretary-manager John Turner expects a quality weekend of golf.
"It should be a fantastic weekend with lots of players and hopefully some good golf," Turner said.
"We should see some great scoring again and tournament conditions always puts a lot of pressure on during the second day so it's good for our members to experience that.
"There are players travelling to Wagga to participate in the event and a very healthy representation by members.
"The rain this week has been welcomed but course superintendent, Stuart Graham, having the greens in superb condition."
The Southern Sports Academy will be well represented with 10 players from their golf program entered including the likes of Will Johnson, Isaac Molloy and Jamie Whiles.
The team is under the guidance of Country Club PGA professional James Purcell.
Turner is pleased to have the next generation taking part in the event.
"It's great for the Southern Sports Academy kids to get some tournament play in ahead of the Jack Newton Junior Masters here in February," he said.
There is still spots available in the field for Saturday and Sunday, as well as Monday's medley.
