Despite her undeniably impressive list of contributions to Hay, Mrs Reid is particularly proud of her involvement in the Hay War Memorial High School's parents and citizens association.
During her 15 years as president, she gained funding for a school bus that exposed the students to a world of opportunities.
"[The school bus] made it a lot easier and economical for our kids to go away to experience the wider world and see other things for their lessons," she said.
Mrs Reid said the only way change comes about is if people make it happen.
"You can stand outside or you can help work towards change and be a part of it," she said.
Mrs Reid is a life member of the Hay Show Society after joining in 1984 where she had served as pavilion manager, vice-president and president.
She is an inaugural member of the Hay Plains Landcare established in 1986.
From 1969 to 2011, Mrs Reid was a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service. She is currently a member of the State Emergency Service as well.
Mrs Reid was also Hay Shire Council's citizen of the year in 2014.
In 2013, she was named Riverina Volunteer of the Year and in 2003 she was awarded the Centenary Medal.
