In a fitting coincidence, Christian chose an Indigenous artwork design from 14-year-old Adam Irons, who hails from his home town of Narrandera, to display on his bat during Tuesday's Big Bash clash with Hobart.
The all-rounder put out the challenge to children at Clontarf Indigenous Academies across the country to design the artwork for the Indigenous Round clash.
He unwittingly picked Irons' entry, who flew down to meet Christian to present the bat to him before the game, and spend the night in Renegades camp.
"I thought they were joking when they told me the one I'd picked was from Narrandera, but its great to see that Adam and the children involved there are engaged in cricket just like I was as a boy," Christian said.
"I'm proud to walk out in an Indigenous themed match that I've campaigned for, but to have a bat that connects to my mob in Narrandera tops it off for me."
