There have been reports of rock falls and landslides around Tumut as the region records its first substantial rainfall after the devastating bushfires.

Late on Sunday night, a rock fall was reported on the Snowy Mountains Highway near the Yachting Point entrance to Blowering Dam.
About 10.45am on Monday, a landslip was reported on the same highway at Sandy Gully, east of the Yaven Creek Road.
In both cases, drivers are being warned to exercise caution and reduce speed as traffic in both directions is being affected.
Already, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall for people in the South Coast, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Australian Capital Territory and parts of Central West Slopes and Plains and Riverina forecast districts.
In the 24-hour period to 9am on Monday, falls of between 15 millimetres and 27mm were recorded across the Tumut area.
Since 9am, there has been about three millimetres more, with the wet conditions expected to remain throughout the day.
The rainfall has been widespread. Yanco airport recorded 25mm of rain in just 30 minutes on Monday morning.
At The Rock, driving are being urged to exercise caution as there are reports of flooding on the Olympic Highway, near Watson Street. Both lanes of traffic are affected.
