Coming fourth in her heat at Leeton to qualify for the mares feature race, Imperials Gem rushed down the outside to score a 5.7-metre victory on Saturday.
In doing so she set a new career best mile rate of 1:53.9.
Meanwhile, Maajida continued her excellent form by taking out a heat of the Victoria Oaks at Ballarat on Saturday.
The Australian two-year-old filly of the year, owned and bred by the Johnson family at The Rock, worked to the front and was never head in win her heat.
Be Happy Mach, the Australian two-year-old colt of gelding of the year from last season, didn't enjoy the same success and was unplaced for the first time in his 12 starts, finishing fifth.
He is first emergency for the final on Saturday.
Blake Jones also failed to qualify Forever Yin, who finished ninth in his heat.
