Players, both experienced and novice, took to the club's two courts for 12 hours straight in an endurance test to raise much-needed funds for those impacted by the crisis.
The club's social event coordinator and squash-a-thon organiser, Kerri Flanagan, said they were blown away by the community support.
"We managed to get 12 hours which was an awesome effort," she said.
"Originally we set the goal of 24 hours and we didn't quite get there, but the 12 hours was amazing and the whole time both courts had players on them.
"Initially we just said the more money we can raise the better, but on the day we set the bar at $2000 and raised just over that.
"The (Wagga Squash Club) committee will had to decide who that will specifically go to, but we said right from the start it would go to bushfire victims.
"We'll try and make sure it goes to whoever needs it the most."
Flanagan said the success of the initial running means it has potential to become a yearly tradition.
"Annually we could do something like this where a cause benefits from it," she said.
"I'd certainly like it to carry on, everyone's been so wonderful and it's been such a community feel.
"We call ourselves 'squashies' who actually play, but it was lovely to have people not affiliated with the club support us as well."
Flanagan believes the event not only succeeded in raising money, but introducing newcomers to the sport.
"It's good promotion for the club because I know they think new registrationis will come out of it as well," she said.
"I wanted to do something that was going to help, but something different. We had people come who've never played before, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
"It was about promoting squash as well as raising funds, and I think we managed to achieve both.
"I can't thank the committee enough, the people on the day helping and the generosity of businesses in Wagga who've helped, it's an amazing feeling to be part of something so special."
