Fermanagh Lad will chase back-to-back editions of the $28,000 Cowra Japan Cup (1200m).
The seven-year-old has drawn the inside barrier with Wagga apprentice Josh Richards to ride.
Fermanagh Lad has a good record at Cowra, having had two starts at the track for a win and a close second.
He set a cracking speed in front last start at Wagga and held on for fifth behind Gold Touch.
"It's a strong enough race but everything is sort of in his favour," trainer Chris Heywood said.
"It looks like being a soft track, which he likes, and 54 kilograms from barrier one so it's hard not to go."
