Emergency services were called to the blaze in Wiveon Street about 3.20pm, and when Fire and Rescue arrived the home was engulfed by the fire.
Fire and Rescue Turvey Park station commander Adrian Hewett said two trucks from his station, as well as crews from the Rural Fire Service, tackled the fire.
"The first crew made it about three metres into the house, but had to withdraw due to the heat and intensity of the fire becoming too much," he said.
Mr Hewett said the fire was contained within an hour of arrival, however the home was "completely destroyed".
This is the second house fire crews have attended this week. Mr Hewett said firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at Lake Albert on Tuesday, however the occupant extinguished the flames before arrival.
He said the fire caused only minimal damage to property.
"It's important home owners have an operating smoke alarm and make sure it's in working order," he said.

Riverina Police District Acting Inspector Maggie Deall said a crime scene was established for the Gobbagombalin home, but at this stage the cause of the fire is unknown.
She said no one was home at the time of the fire.
