Skelly took three wickets in four balls to end any chance the Bulls had of an unlikely victory at Robertson Oval on Tuesday.

Lake Albert made a great start looking to chase down South Wagga's 4-156 off their 20 overs with Danny Webber firing at the top of the innings.

However it came to a quick halt when Joel Robinson broke through breaking their 32-run opening run stand.

He bowled Webber for 30 and from there the Bulls struggled to regain any momentum.

Skelly, who took 4-16 off four overs, then put the result out of reach in the 12th over.

First he had Sam Smith (11) caught, before Kurt Robertson (2) was stumped by Brayden Ambler.

There should have been a run out off his next ball before Skelly struck again with Isaac Cooper dismissed leg before wicket for a first-ball duck as the Bulls fell to 7-62.

Skelly was pleased to add to his tally.

"I'll take it," Skelly said.

"I thought they came out pretty well but the boys all went really well and they caught really well. It was an all round good effort."

Picking up wickets against his former club only made it sweeter.

"It is always nice to get a couple of mates out," Skelly said.

The Bulls were able to peg back a good start for the Blues as Josh Coyte struck twice.

First he bowled the in-form Alex Smeeth (19) before picking up an unlikely second wicket after bowling Ambler (27).

South Wagga's innings looked in the balance when Warren Clunes (6) was removed cheaply before Robinson got things going.

However he was controversially dismissed by the returning Robertson after a no ball was initially signalled before being given out caught and bowled for 29.

Luke Gerhard didn't let it slow his innings as he finished unbeaten on 51 after putting on 55 with Mitch Sykes (22 not out) to give the Blues plenty to defend.

Skelly thought it was crucial.

"LG (Gerhard) went well," he said. "It is good to see him back in the runs and we have that depth there to set him a base at the end and that's what we did."

Skelly, who is now the competition's second highest wicket taker, played a season with Lake Albert before making the move alongside Smeeth to South Wagga.

He's enjoyed the move.

"It has been good and I'm really enjoying it," Skelly said.

"They are a really good bunch of blokes to play with and I'm just loving it."

Trent Charlton (36 not out) and Jacson Sommerville (19 not out) added some respectability to the scoreline as they almost doubled their team's tally.

The Bulls finished at 7-122 and the loss sees them remain six points adrift of fourth place with three rounds before finals.

They will be looking to bounce back on Saturday against Wagga City while South Wagga play Wagga RSL.
