The family's home is at Tumbarumba and was affected by the fires on New Year's Eve.
The Farrells' land was burned by the fire and the family home, although spared, has been damaged.
Parents Carl and Karen and their daughters, Lulu, 12, Daisy, 10, Niamh, 10, and Cecile, 9, are enduring an anxious wait until they are allowed back to examine the extent of the damage to their home.
In a bid to help make Mr and Mrs Farrell's wait a little easier, the four girls decided they wanted to do something special to mark their parents' wedding anniversary on Monday.
The girls borrowed their mum's mobile phone and secretly enlisted grandma Vicki Farrell's help to go on a shopping expedition to buy some treats for their parents.
"We wanted to get them some things we know they like," Lulu said.
Mrs Farrell said she was only too happy to help.
