Rocknroll Runa ($1.80) made an impressive debut when winning the opening heat of the Southern Central Engineering MIA Breeders Plate (1758m) at Leeton on Friday night.
He is the son of group one-winning mare Shes A Runa and is trained by David Kennedy.
Jack Painting did the steering as Rocknroll Runa wore down Wayne Sullivan's Malakie to win by two metres in a mile rate of 2:01.9.
Victorian visitor Im Lady Madeleine ($3.20) scored a dominant 32-metre victory in the second heat.
Trained by Danny and Leroy O'Brien and with Jayden Brewin driving, Im Lady Madeleine led all the way to win easily in a mile rate of 2:04.3.
The $30,600 group three final will be held on Friday night, January 24. The field and barrier draw will be released on Tuesday, January 21.
