A man has undergone surgery after sustaining serious injuries while defending a property near Tumbarumba overnight.

Sometime during last night's weather events, the man, believed to be in his 20s, sustained serious burns to his face and hands.
A NSW ambulance spokesperson has confirmed he was given an emergency airlift to Wagga Base Hospital via the RFS helicopter.
He was triage and transferred in a serious but stable condition to the burns unit at Concord Hospital where he has today undergone surgery.

The outcome of his surgery is yet unknown.
Meanwhile a group of out-of-area volunteer firefighters have sustained serious but minor injuries while battling the blaze near Adaminaby.
The RFS has confirmed the group was overrun by fire whilst attempting to control the spread of the Adaminaby Complex.
Three members sustained burns while another experienced shortness of breath and chest pains.
Ambulances treated them on scene and were taken to hospital. They have since been released.
The crew were from Narara on the NSW Central Coast.
