Walker has been a shining light for Wagga City this season in his first full season in the top grade.
The 16-year-old has taken the gloves for the Cats this year but has also proven a more than handy batsman, scoring 134 runs in the middle order at an average of 26.8.
Walker and his Wagga City teammates will be put to the test on Saturday in a rematch of last year's grand final against South Wagga.
"It's going to be a good game," Walker said.
"It will be a big challenge for us boys and it will be interesting to see how we bounce back from the Christmas break.
"Lake Albert showed you can beat South Wagga when they got over them the other week, we're just going to need a bit of luck."
The two teams have already met twice this season, with South Wagga coming out on top on both occasions.
They were in the Twenty20 and two-day formats, with Saturday's fixture to be a one-day game.
Walker played two first grade games for Wagga City last season, before becoming a permanent fixture in the team this year. He is enjoying his time in the top grade.
"It's been good. Really good," he said.
"It's a bit of a step up, especially the two-day stuff, but I've enjoyed the step up, it's been good."
The Wagga High School student has been happy enough with his contributions to date.
"It's been alright. It would be nice to convert those starts and be nice to get a big score one game but I'm pretty happy with it," he said.
It has been a busy season to date for Walker, juggling his maiden first grade season and representative duties.
He travelled to Gosford in November as part of the Riverina team for the NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) carnival. Then was on the road again last month, representing Riverina's under 18 team at the Country Colts Cup in Bathurst.
Meantime, South Wagga will go into the big clash without three of their leading players.
Joel Robinson, Blake Harper and Alex Jones are all unavailable, while captain Jeremy Rowe remains sidelined with injury.
Luke Gerhard will captain the Blues in Rowe and Robinson's absence.
