Run through Bicycle NSW, the initiative provides people with informative routes to cycle around various rural locations, outlining aspects like terrain, duration and level of difficulty.

The organisation's communications manager Kim Lavender said the idea came from seeing many inland regions suffer through drought.

"In the lead up to the end of last year we knew a lot of regional communities were struggling with the drought," she said.

"Being based in the city, we wanted to figure out a way to try and help so we came up with Ride the Bush to encourage cyclists and riders to go out and explore local communities to help build their economies back up and bring in some business."

For Wagga, there are four tracks outlined including Lake Albert and Malabo Hill as well as seven things to see along the way.

"There are a few shorter rides around 5km for families then longer tracks as far as 100km which target the more experienced riders, plus everything in between," Ms Lavender said.

While the initiative launched in November last year, promotions have been put on hold given the ongoing bushfires.

"We obviously don't want to encourage people to ride into danger zones and put themselves in harm's way, but when these fire affected communities are at a point where they can manage tourists again it will be a great way to help build that back up," Ms Lavender said.
