Albury's postponed race meeting scheduled for Monday was abandoned on race morning due to hazardous air quality and smoke haze.
It was the third consecutive race meeting in the SDRA that has not gone ahead in the past week due to the smoke surrounding the region from the bushfires.
The next race meeting is scheduled for Murrumbidgee Turf Club (MTC) on Thursday, with the fields to be released on Tuesday morning.
SDRA chief steward Jason Schulz hopes the race meeting at Wagga will go ahead.
"At this stage we're scheduled to race as normal," Schulz said.
"It will continue to be monitored up until race morning, like we did at Albury, and I'll be on course nice and early on Thursday to see how the conditions are.
"If it is a day like it is in Wagga today (Monday) then we'll probably race but in Albury it was completely different."
Schulz explained that the inconsistent nature of the smoke haze made it difficult to plan for.
"We can't make a decision until the morning of, really," he said.
"(On Sunday) you wouldn't have raced at Wagga and then (Monday morning) it was right."
The Albury race meeting was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed until Monday. It has now been abandoned.
Tumut's raceday that was down for last Saturday, the club's first TAB meeting in 19 years, has been postponed until Saturday, January 18.
The Adelong Cup meeting at Gundagai on New Year's Day was also lost.
MTC has received 184 nominations for the eight-race card on Thursday.
MTC chief executive Steve Keene believes it will be beneficial for the industry if the meeting can go ahead.
"It will be a good thing for the district if we do happen to race," Keene said.
"If we got a day like (Monday) then we shouldn't have an issue.
"While our thoughts are with all those affected by the fires, it would be good to get the race meeting to go ahead.
"With really good nominations, there is a strong need for the horses to go around."
The Suez Australia Summer Sprint (1200m) will be the feature on the eight-race card at Wagga and it attracted 23 nominations alone.
Doug Gorrel's stable newcomer Intueri has been allocated the top weight of 63.5 kilograms.
