Two years ago, Motorcycling NSW moved to reinvigorate the championships, starting the 'King of MX' concept which sees six venues around the state hosting qualifying rounds.
As the series enters its third year, Wagga has been selected as a venue for the first time and will stage the fourth round of qualifying on March 28-29.
Motorcycling NSW said it was reward for getting motocross up and running again and time to 'give the club a shot in the arm' after their efforts to create a committee and venue capable of handling the event.
"It's a massive blessing to get this at our club," president Adam Beck said.
"It just means we're taking the right steps in what we're doing and hopefully 2020 is a massive year for us.
"We're hoping a lot of riders from around our area enter it and get involved, and I think we'll pull some good Victorian riders out who want to qualify for the final, as well as people from the east coast that come down to chase the series."
The other qualifying rounds are at Bega, Narrabri, Bathurst, Lake Macquarie and Sydney. The 'King of MX' finale will be held in June.
Rather than having to accumulate points through a whole series, the top six in each class at each event earn a golden ticket to the final.
It means there'll be plenty on the line for competitors at the Wagga track.
The concept was designed to put plenty of prestige behind the title of state champion and open up opportunities for riders in all regions.
Competitors can enter any one or more of the six qualifying rounds.
"Riders get to enter a state level event and play with the big guys that come from out of town, so it's a whole new ball game," Beck said.
"The track will turn out different to what it normally does and it'll be exciting to see how it all plays out.
"I'm stoked that we finally got it. We were aiming for 2019 but we held back a year to build the club up.
"The club's going in the right direction now and while we're moving forward, we'll try to tackle the big events."
The speedway venue last month hosted the first ever 'Sultans of Slide', a new event aimed at injecting life into flat track racing which was trialled at only three venues around NSW.
The Wagga Motorcycle Sports Club will kickstart their new year on February 8 with a stadium-cross event, under lights, at the Yarragundry Speedway.
