Scott was EWK's best-and-fairest in 2015 (his second at the club), and part of the 2016 success. He moved to Melbourne two years ago and joined Southern Football League club, Highett, winning another flag in 2018.
At 31, Scott still lives in Melbourne but was keen to return to the Hawks.
"I decided to come back and play another year with my mates," Scott said.
"I sounded out Matty (EWK coach Matt Hard) a couple of months ago to see what he felt. I wasn't sure how he'd feel about me travelling back to play but he was good and that made me feel good about.
"As soon as I made the decision then, I can't wait to get into it.
"The boys fell just short last year. Hopefully we can go one better next year. We've got a lot of good young kids coming through at the club...
"North Wagga were just a little bit too quick in the grand final I think but we might have a bit more pace next year."
Scott's success with Highett in 2018 was in division two, a competition he considers on par with the Farrer League. Last season, they were promoted to division one.
"We got taught a bit of a lesson but I enjoyed it," he said. "In div two there was a huge gap between the top sides and the bottom sides but div one was really good footy."
Highett struggled to match the top sides, winning only two games, but it means Scott will come in off a good, hard season and standard of football.
The former midfielder-forward played on a back flank in Melbourne and said he's happy to slot in wherever at EWK, where's he's played well over 200 senior games.
He's the fifth addition to EWK this off-season, along with fellow former Hawk Tim Smith as well as ex Tigers captain Nick Ryan, former Jet Alex Rogers and Dan McCarthy from Wodonga Bulldogs.
