The fire has been downgraded to watch and act.
The fire continues to burn south of the Snowy Mountains Highway in the Ellerslie Road and Yaven Creek Road areas. The fire is travelling in an easterly direction.
Conditions are easing on this fireground, the NSW Rural Fire Service said.
Firefighters supported by waterbombing aircraft are attempting to slow the progress of the fire.
Under these conditions, fires can be difficult to control. Embers may be blown ahead of the fire, creating spot fires. These spot fires may threaten your home earlier than the predicted main fire front.
If you are in the area Ellerslie Road and Yaven Creek Road, you should enact their Bush Fire Survival Plan.
If your plan is to leave, or you are not prepared, leave early.
Well prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety during the fire.

The Dunns Road bushfire burning east of Tarcutta has has been upgraded to an emergency warning alert level.
The NSW Rural Fire Service says the fire has shifted under a strong southerly change.
The RFS says residents along Ellerslie Road, Ellerslie Woolshed Road and Yaven Creek Road should enact there bushfire survival plan and shelter in place as the fire front approaches.

The fire is now 600ha.

The fire along Dunns Road is currently over 200 hectares in size and remains out of control.

Update, 2.40pm:
The bushfire at Tarcutta has been updated to a Watch and Act level as NSW RFS urge those nearby to begin taking action to protect property and family.
Conditions are changing and the fire has currently burnt through 40 hectares of land.
EARLIER:
Firefighters are working to control a bushfire at Tarcutta about 70km south east of Wagga.
About 12.30 Saturday afternoon NSW RFS crews were alerted to the blaze which is currently in an out of control state.
Residents and road users are urged to take caution in the area and to stay alert to the situation with hot, dry, windy conditions hitting the region.
No further information has been released at this stage.
The cause of the blaze is unknown.
