Saint Michael's Parish Centre opened its doors, and hearts, for their annual Christmas lunch, bringing together more than 40 families, friends and the new residents of Wagga.
It is a tradition for the parish sisters to volunteer their time to prepare and cook a community meal while spreading joy amongst all who came.
Ray Smith, of Wagga, also volunteered for the celebrations.
He said giving back to the community was a big part of his life and the annual lunch has become a regular tradition for many years now, not only at Christmas, but for Easter as well.
Mr Smith helped the parish set up for the big day and poured drinks for the attendees throughout the afternoon.
"It is easy for me to give up my time to help others have a great day. That is where I get the most gratification," he said.
"I love to see all the smiles on everyone's faces at Christmas."
Mr Smith said his passion in life was helping other people.
"Christmas is a day for giving, so every day is like Christmas to me," he said.
Helen Davidson and her best friend Margaret White said they looked forward to celebrating Christmas Day with each other and the Saint Michael's Parish every year for about six years.
"To us Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and celebrating that," Ms Davidson said. "We are best friends and sisters, we come every year because it is our favourite time of the year."
