After seeing the struggle of Wagga's Riding for the Disabled Association to feed their horses, the centre organised a range of sports and activities which prisoners paid to participate in to raise money.
"This is a way for inmates to reconnect with community, they will be released and have to come back into the community so it gives them that sense of belonging," correctional centre rehabilitation and reintegration manager Trevor Coles said.
Head coach at RDA Darren Judd said the donation would go a long way to feed their 16 horses.
"We're very thankful, at the moment with the drought and fires hay is getting harder to find and more expensive," he said.
"Without the horses, RDA can't do what we do and this goes a long way to helping with them."
