MCUE will meet with AFL Riverina's League Equalisation Panel (LEP) in January after making an application to receive an extra two points.

AFL NSW-ACT announced a reduction in points for both the Riverina and Farrer Leagues next season, dropping from 38 to 36.

The Goannas have applied for their limit to remain at 38 points, effectively giving the club an extra two points to play with.

Farrer League club The Rock-Yerong Creek have made a similar application and will also meet with the LEP next month.

New MCUE president Jesse Cunningham said the club's application was challenging three by-laws.

He explained that the club's case is being made in regards to population, lack of premiership success and geographical position.

"We've got three points to our case. One is our population. Combined with Mangoplah and Cookardinia we have a total population of 375," Cunningham said.

"The other point was success. We haven't won an RFL premiership and our premiership drought is a lot more than a lot of other clubs.

"The third point being our geographical position. So we're 35 kilometres from Wagga with no school associated with the towns we represent.

"Back when Mango were dominant in the Farrer League there was actually seven primary schools in the surrounding areas and they've since all closed down and we've found a lot of club families have left and gone interstate to other clubs. We've also established Estella, being the booming estate of Wagga, is a further 10 kilometres away from Mangoplah."

MCUE will also raise the subject of their affiliation with junior club Eastlakes-MCU.

Eastlakes-MCU will not field an under 15 team for a third consecutive year in 2020 and Cunningham believes this is another reason why MCUE should be entitled to some PPS relief.

"The other problem we've had, especially recently, is we haven't fielded an under 15 side," he said.

"Obviously we're affiliated with Eastlakes but it doesn't represent Mangoplah-Cookardinia. It is our feeder club in the juniors.

"Most clubs if they've got that issue can develop their 17s...but what we're having problems with is...most clubs have the ability to pick out of their under 17s but we're struggling because we're not getting those younger kids coming through and it's tough to get them back once they leave.

"I can see why an under 15 kid still wants to play in their age group so he goes to another club, but then it's too hard once he goes to under 17s to get them back to Mango because they make new mates and they might enjoy it out there.

"You look at the stronger clubs, and no way are we making excuses, every club has different issues but we just find if it was another club, they could just pick out 17s here and there but we're going to struggle with that for years to come due to not having 15s coming through the ranks.

"We've lost a lot of local families and not having a school out there makes it tricky."

MCUE are working on strengthening the relationship with Eastlakes-MCU with the juniors having played a couple of home games at Mangoplah Sportsground in recent years.

The Goannas are also looking at hosting same day football against Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong at Mangoplah Sportsground this season in a bid to help encourage kids, and their families, to follow through to the senior club.

TRYC have also applied for two extra points with president David Pieper citing not having under 17s as the major reason for it.

It will be the first time the LEP has had to make a decision on a club application for extra points.
