Scott was the fifth rider as Australia set a new world record in the team pursuit in Poland last February.
While building up to defend their crown in Berlin, first the former Wagga cyclist will line up in the Tour Down Under.
He joins Australian teammates Sam Welsford and Kelland O'Brien in the UniSA-Australia team for the nation's premier road race.
With the likes of Richie Porte and two-time defending champion Daryl Impey, who won a stage of the Tour de France this year, already confirmed the 21-year-old is hoping forward to being able to tick an item off his cycling bucket list.
"It's not just them them but all the other guys who come out, the likes of Peter Sagan, and heaps of the World Tour teams who come down for it," Scott said.
"It is going to be a really cool experience to race the pro guys, see how they do things and just be around that many experienced riders.
"It's something different and something I've never done before."
However it's far from his main focus for what shapes as a massive year for cycling ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
Scott is looking to use a period of racing on the road to build into the busy year ahead.
"Over the new year period we will be doing more road," Scott said. "It helps a lot for the track just getting all that endurance and there's not much going on on the track at that time so pretty much all of January will be on the road before we starting training up for the track worlds in February."
Scott has just returned from the World Cup in New Zealand where he was part of the Australian team who had to settle for the silver medal.
Switzerland finished too strong to pull off the shock result however the 21-year-old is pleased with his form as he pushes for a place in the top four.
"I've stepped up a lot in the last four months," Scott said.
"I rode in the New Zealand World Cup last week, we did come second, but we showed we've made a lot of improvements and we can still go well off a minimal amount of training.
"We're still building up but it is looking good at the moment."
