The arrival of two new teams has helped boost the AFL Southern NSW Women's competition to record levels next year.
North Wagga and Narrandera will both enter teams for the first time helping the competition to grow to a seven-club competition in 2020.
East Wagga-Kooringal will also field a team for the first time, primarily made up of players from the former Snowy Mountain Bears.
AFL Riverina football operations coordinator Tom Walker believes the new-look competition will only continue to improve with every year.
"This is the third season and we've got a record amount of teams and are two up on last season," Walker said.
"I think through the growth of the AFLW competition, that has really helped, and clubs are wanting to get involved in the female footy space.
"With the increase in the teams and participation, we're hoping to grow our female competitions in coming years."
A key recommendation of the AFL Riverina Competition Review was to fully integrate female football competitions within AFL Riverina and its clubs.
A draft draw has been sent to clubs and is expected to be finalised in mid January.
The competition is expected to get underway on Friday, February 14.
Walker hopes to confirm a couple of features to the draw, including one round all on the same day at the one venue.
"We're looking to have a gala day on Sunday the 15th of March at Gumly Oval where we would have six of the seven clubs participating," Walker said.
"We'll also have some night games at Narrandera Sportsground for the first time. Being the premier venue in the Riverina it will be great to see some female footy there."
Under this year's format, there will be play-offs for third and fifth on the same night as the grand final.
The top two teams from the six rounds will progress directly to the grand final, set for Friday night, March 27.
AFL Riverina also plan to hold a season launch, touted for February 11.
The seven teams are CSU, North Wagga, Narrandera, Brookdale Bluebells, Riverina Lions, Griffith and East Wagga-Kooringal.
