THE Riverina Police District will welcome four new probationary constables to its ranks following the attestation of 275 recruits at the Police Academy in Goulburn on December 13.

The district's commander, Superintendent Bob Noble, said the allocation of the new officers to the area would greatly increase capability.
"These young people are embarking on one of the most exhilarating career journeys imaginable, in one of the most challenging locations in regional NSW," Superintendent Noble said.
"They'll be welcomed with open arms by the dedicated and hard-working police of the Riverina."
Elsewhere in the southern region, the Murrumbidgee, Murray River, Hume, Monaro and South Coast districts will get two each.
Southern region commander, Assistant Commissioner Joe Cassar APM, said the latest installment of new police positions for 201920 will significantly increase the capability of police districts to combat crime.
"These officers will be assigned to front line operational positions and will make a real difference to their communities," Assistant Commissioner Cassar said.
Class 339 on Friday included 182 policemen and 93 policewomen who will complete 12 months on-the-job training and study of the Associate Degree in Policing Practice by distance education with Charles Sturt University before being confirmed to the rank of constable.
