The Cats and Dogs Cup is up for grabs as Wagga RSL look to make it two wins in a row for the first time this season.
Wagga City won five straight to comfortably sit in second place on the ladder but after consecutive losses to South Wagga and St Michaels find themselves down in third and only six points clear of the fifth placed Bulldogs.
Cats captain Josh Thompson is hoping for a change in mentality.
"I think our enthusiasm and commitment has dropped off quite significantly," Thompson said.
"I think we just need to get more enthusiastic with some good vibes around the club and start to enjoy our cricket and enjoy winning."
Thompson is hopeful the day-night fixture can help provide the spark that's needed.
However he's far from panicked by the situation the side finds them in, especially given it is months out from the business end of the season.
"We said at the start of the year that if we finish higher than fourth than that was going to be par for us," Thompson said.
"We weren't drumming ourselves to be very good but St Micks just out bowled us on the weekend.
"They bowled very consistent and to one side of the wicket so it was hard to score runs on a slow wicket."
They finished off the game very strongly and there is not much you can do about it when you get outplayed by the other team."
St Michaels looked in strife trying to defend 195 at Robertson Oval with the Cats ticking along nicely at 3-111.
However after losing 4-18 last year's grand finalists failed to recover despite Rob Nicoll (31 not out) and Mitch Cawley (23) putting on 49 for the eighth wicket.
Thompson once again rued losing wickets in clumps.
"We've lost wickets in clumps for years and it is something we can't really shake," he said.
"I'm not to sure if it is game awareness but we are trying to work on it."
Meanwhile Wagga RSL are coming off a thrilling one-wicket win over Kooringal Colts and will be looking to push their finals claim with another victory.
The clash gets under way at 4pm.
