The group three feature will just be one of the highlights for the May 24 meeting.
The Wagga Derby, Wagga Oaks and Rising Stars also follow the move and the meeting will coincide with the regional final of the Million Dollar Pace.
Wagga chief executive Graeme White expects it will create a massive day of racing at the new track.
"We had to move the cup meeting as we don't have a Carnival of Cups meeting, it has been replaced by the Group One carnival in April," White said.
"We had to come up with a date that suited everyone and thought why not have it on Sunday May 24 and have all our big races, the Cup, Derby, Oaks and the two-year-old, with the dates already set for the Million Dollar Pace."
The feature races alone will be worth more the $80,000 in prizemoney.
The Pacers Cup will remain at $30,000 with the Derby and Oaks for three-year-olds plus the Rising Stars for two-year-olds all worth $10,000.
It is an increase for the Rising Stars and follows a similar increase for the Oaks last season.
With the Million Dollar Pace restricted to horses trained within the region, and with two places in the $1million final on the line, White expects there will be something for everyone.
"The Million Dollar Pace is a ratings 70 but the Cup is up to a ratings 120," he said.
"We want to attract the best quality horse we can for the cup and the locals who are eligible would have competed in the heats at Wagga, Leeton and Young and will be racing on that same day.
"It will be one big day of harness racing."
The Wagga Pacers Cup has typically been run in March during the later half of the decade but was run for the first new at the new track in April this year.
Riverina Paceway feature meetings have typically been on Sundays and White believes it is a time frame that works well with spectators.
"The Sundays have worked really well for us and we only have a handful of Sunday meetings a year and we want to make the most of them," he said.
"It seems to work well with the public."
White hopes the new May date will flow on from the region's first group ones in any code of racing.
Their new four and five-year-olds features will be run in April.
Heats will be held on April 3 and 7 before the finals on Easter Sunday, April 12.
Wagga are preparing for another big night on Saturday with their Christmas Party meeting.
There has been a huge response with over 300 people confirmed for 15 parties.
Outside of the acing, there will be a visit from Santa for the children as well as pony rides, face painting and a jumping castle.
A punter's club will also operate, while five Christmas hams will also be available in the lucky wheel draw.
Wagga's Police Citizens Youth Club is backing the meeting and will conduct a huge raffle on the night.
