The manager of Lake Albert Foodworks says staff did "everything they should have done" in handing over money to robbers at gunpoint.
Store manager Bailey Porter said staff members were "very shaken" after two men armed with a shotgun robbed the supermarket at about 6am on Monday.
"(The staff) just pretty much opened what they had to and gave them what they wanted," Ms Porter said.
"They're very shaken and I think they will take some time to get over it but we are taking all steps to help them out as well.
"They took cigarettes and cash but we haven't got exact figures at the moment of what they have taken.
"It's not something you ever want to happen. You never want your staff to have to go through this, but to us we don't care about the cash or the cigarettes; we're just glad our staff are OK."
Ms Porter said the incident was over within three minutes but the store had "very good CCTV" and had handed the footage over to police.
The two men fled the scene in a white Jeep Cherokee, which was later involved in a police pursuit that was called off for safety reasons.
The car was later found abandoned in Adams Street in Ashmont.

Two men entered the store at about 6am with a shotgun and demanded cigarettes and cash before fleeing in a white Jeep Cherokee.

A crime scene has been established in Lake Albert after a supermarket was robbed by two men brandishing a shotgun early on Monday morning.
The Foodworks store at Lake Village shopping centre will be closed until further notice after the hold-up, which occurred before 7am.
According to police, two men arrived at the shop around 6am, with one of them pulling out a shotgun.
The pair made off with cigarettes and cash, fleeing in a white Jeep Cherokee.
Soon after, the vehicle led police on a pursuit through Wagga's streets before it was terminated for safety reasons.
The car was later found abandoned in Adams Street in Ashmont.
No one was hurt in the ordeal, a post on the Foodworks Lake Albert Facebook page advised, and the supermarket is expected to reopen by the afternoon.
Police believe the Foodworks robbery may be linked to similar incidents in the city over the past week and are urging anyone with information to contact the Wagga police station on 6922 2599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The early morning incident is the latest in a string of robberies in Wagga, with two service stations held up and an elderly woman targeted in the Marketplace car park on separate occasions in the last two weeks.
An attendant at the Hammond Avenue Caltex was threatened with a shotgun just after 4am on Wednesday morning, with their assailant making off with a sum of cash and cigarettes.
On Saturday morning, a 70-year-old woman was robbed at knifepoint as she headed to the shops from the Marketplace car park.
The woman was walking towards one of the shopping centre's escalators when a car pulled up alongside her.

A man, who was allegedly armed with a knife, got out of the vehicle and demanded the woman hand over her wallet - which had her phone in it - before knocking it out of her hand. She was shaken but not injured in the robbery.
Late last month, a 92-year-old woman was the victim of a carjacking in the same shopping centre car park.
About 3.15pm on November 28, police were called to the Marketplace after the woman had her car stolen.
"She was offered some assistance [when moving the car] by a juvenile male," Acting Inspector Maggie Deall said.
"That juvenile male did give her assistance, and subsequently [allegedly] took the car and attempted to drive from Wagga."
Police located the juvenile about 20 minutes later, allegedly driving the stolen vehicle on the Sturt Highway.
Meanwhile, a Kooringal man is facing charges after allegedly brandishing a large knife at the Bourke Street Shell on November 28.
