Hot on the tail of signing front rower Caleb Tohovaka, the Bulldogs have pounced on his Canterbury Bulls teammate Jordan Coleman.
Coleman represented New Zealand under 18s this year and shapes as an exciting addition for the Bulldogs as they look to hit back from a horror season.
Coach Aaron Byrne is thrilled to have the young gun on board.
"He's obviously only young but he played two tests for New Zealand under 18s this year, played first grade all year in the Canterbury comp and was chosen in the Canterbury rep which played Country when Josh Cale took the team over there a month ago," Byrne said.
"They played against the Samoan team as well as being the top tryscorer in the comp so his resume reads pretty well."
Coleman has played both fullback and halfback in recent seasons.
Byrne is unsure where the 18-year-old will fit in with Cootamundra.
"It's quite unsettled," he said.
"Four or five guys had a go at halfback this year so I'm not sure which one he will play - fullback or halfback - but it is nice to have an option of that quality."
Byrne believes the announcement of the two Kiwis has created buzz in Cootamundra.
"It creates a bit of interest around town too, which is good," he said.
"That was lacking a little bit after the season just gone."
Cootamundra only won one game last year, against Temora in the second last round, and building the team into a more competitive outfit is Byrne's number one priority.
The Bulldogs had a get together on Friday and the returning coach was pleased with the turn out.
"We had a decent showing down there plus a few guys who couldn't make it let me know they were still good to go around," Byrne said.
"It is promising at the moment but it is hard to get too far ahead of ourselves after winning one game this year."
With the two New Zealand recruits on board, the Bulldogs haven't closed the door on some new faces but Byrne is looking to focus on retaining their playing group from last season.
