Mater Dei were undefeated through the pool stage and were never behind in the grand final at Conolly Rugby Complex on Thursday.

Captain Nathanael Mooney led the way.

The number eight scored all of his team's points as they round out 22-7 victors.

After losses to Kildare in both the Hardy Shield and Carroll Cup grand finals earlier this year, Mooney was pleased to get on over their Catholic school rivals.

"It's really good as the boys came together over a six-week period and to come away with a decent size win was just icing on the cake," Mooney said.

Mater Dei hit the front early after Mooney stormed down the sideline to score after five minutes.

However Kildare hit back late in the first half to level things at the break despite having Jacob Crossley yellow carded.

Crossley was given his marching orders for a high tackle, but it was Kildare who put the next points on the board as captain Jack Roche stormed over.

Scores were locked at 7-all at half-time but it didn't take long for Mooney to give Mater Dei the lead back.

Two minutes into the second half he crashed over for a 14-7 lead.

He then kicked a penalty goal with 15 minutes remaining before sealing the victory while bringing up his hat-trick three minutes later.

Kildare proved to be Mater Dei's toughest opponent in the pool stage, and despite a tight first half Mooney had plenty of confidence in the side.

"Over the course of the six weeks our second halves have been by far the strongest," he said.

"We had a bit of confidence that if we were within touching distance at half-time that we could really run away with it towards the end."

While Mooney dominated on the scoreboard Bryce Magnone helped set the platform for Mater Dei, and provided a brilliant ball for the final try.

Angus Curry was elusive at fullback while Tristan Wheeler, Wes Clark and Wilson Hamblin were dangerous out wide while Roche and Jake Hay toiled hard for Kildare.

Meanwhile Sam McCready produced some last second heroics to see The Riverina Anglican College win the third place play-off.

Wagga High School hit the front late and looked to have won it only for the ball to be spilled over the line.

Off the resulting play, McCready got a perfect bounce before racing 60 metres to score and take a 10-7 victory.

Kooringal High School finished fifth after a 62-0 win over Wagga Christian College.
