Celebrating the abilities and achievements of members within the community is the goal of an annual party hosted by the Regional Disability Advocacy Service.

It's a busy time of year for the team with the dance party celebration for International Day of People with Disability fast approaching.

The day, held on December 3, encourages everyone to celebrate and raise awareness for people with a disability.

Edward John Chaplain and Jeffery Allen said they love the dance party.

"People come from everywhere to enjoy it," said Mr Allen.

"We have it once a year, and we get to dance, have a feed and meet new people. We have a good time, and it is for everyone with a disability."

Mr Chaplain said the events are significant for "people like us, with disabilities" to have fun and get out of the house.

Swie Madden from Regional Disability Advocacy Service said the event is all about celebrating the abilities and achievements of people with disabilities.

"People all over the world celebrate International Day of People with Disability, and in Wagga, we celebrate with a dance party," she said.

"We have hosted it for the last 20 years, and we have about 200 to 300 people attend.

"Families and carers are welcome."

The dance will be held at the Kyeamba Smith Hall at the Wagga Showground on Friday from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. The theme is black and white, with a $10 cost for entry. For more information, contact the Regional Disability Advocacy Service on 02 6921 9225.
