Wagga police have appealed for information over "grave concerns" for the safety of missing mother of three Ruth Ridley.
Mrs Ridley disappeared between October 26 and 28 while travelling to Tumbarumba to visit family.
Detective Acting Inspector Brent Fletcher said on Tuesday that Mrs Ridley "may have been the victim of a domestic violence incident which has resulted in her death".
Mrs Ridley's husband was found dead at Shelley in Victoria earlier this month.
Inspector Fletcher said there was a joint investigation running with Victoria Police.
"We are working together to see what facts we can establish in relation to both matters," he said.
"We have canvassed a number of people in the Tumbarumba township, police divers have been involved down at Neils Bend Murray River Reserve but at this stage there is nothing further in terms of leads to Mr's Ridley's location."
"Inquiries are continuing and if anyone has information contact us or Crimestoppers."
MONDAY:
Police fear a woman has been killed in a domestic violence incident after she travelled through the Riverina region last month.
On Monday, police announced the establishment of Strike Force Alysse to investigate the recent disappearance of Ruth Ridley in the Murray River border area with Victoria.
Mrs Ridley was reported missing in NSW on October 30, after she had visited Tumbarumba.
Police hold "grave fears for her safety and suspect she may be the victim of a domestic violence incident that has resulted in her death".
She is described as 58 years of age, Caucasian, about 175cm tall with a medium build, fair complexion and blonde hair.
Police believe Mrs Ridley travelled from Tumbarumba to Neils Bend Murray River Reserve or the Walwa area on October 26 in the company of her husband, Gary Ridley, in a dark blue Mitsubishi Pajero, towing a Jayco Sterling Caravan.
READ MORE:
The Pajero was located near the Shelley - Walwa Road, Shelley in Victoria, a few days later with the body Mr Ridley inside.
They released CCTV of Mr Ridley at a service station in Tumbarumba on October 26.
Victoria Police are investigating that death and are assisting NSW Police with their inquiries into Mrs Ridley's disappearance.
Police are seeking information from anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Neil's Bend Reserve or the Walwa area in Victoria on the Murray River between October 26 to 28.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Ruth or Gary Ridley camped in the area during that period.
Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have sighted the dark blue Mitsubishi Pajero, with or without the caravan attached over the same time period of the October 26 to 28.
