Eleven Riverina cricketers spent last week in Perth competing at the Australian Veterans National Over 50s Championships.
Saint Michaels cricketer Eric Koetz, Griffith's Mark Favell and Albury's Tim Weilandt were part of the NSW Kangaroos team that were crowned division two champions.
Temora's Peter Gerhard, Griffith's Jamie Bennett and Cootamundra's John Stephens formed an integral part of the NSW Blues team that finished third in division one.
Wagga pair Neville Jolliffe and Mark Grigg combined with Cootamundra's Mark Elia and Darren Connell and Temora's Peter Stimson in the NSW Waratahs team, who finished fifth in division one.
Koetz, who starred with the bat for his team, said it was a highly enjoyable week of cricket.
"It was a fantastic week of cricket with great competition and comradery amongst all sides," Koetz said.
"The standard was somewhere between first and second grade in Wagga with some quality batters and bowlers amongst all sides."
Koetz retired on 40 twice at the carnival, including in their final win over Western Australia Sandgropers.
He finished the championships with an average of 54 and returned home to hit 71 not out for Saint Michaels in second grade on Saturday.
Jamie Bennett picked up five wickets for the Blues, while Peter Gerhard picked up three wickets at an average of eight.
Darren Connell and Mark Grigg were the pick of the Riverina contingent for the Waratahs.
Grigg averaged 33 with the bat and picked up four wickets. Connell took five wickets and averaged 19 with the bat.
