The new Settlers Village Challenge Cup adds to the incentive ahead of the biggest match of the season so far.
Settlers Village has come on board and will offer a cash prize for each first grade clash between the two clubs.
Cats captain Josh Thompson doesn't believe the two rivals need more incentive, but is looking forward to the chance to take home the prize.
"Both teams have built up a pretty fierce rivalry over the years and played a lot of games of cricket at the back end of the season so it's just another incentive to play better cricket and play for something more," Thompson said.
Wagga City have lost their last two clashes against the Blues, including last season's grand final and are out to turn the tables.
They welcome back Max Harper and Sean Gaynor for the clash however Mitch Cawley come out of the side.
Thompson will also miss the second half of the match.
South Wagga have made plenty of changes with Brayden Ambler and Lachie Skelly back from Riverina representative duties while Mitch Sykes also returns.
However captain Jeremy Rowe is back on the injured list while Seb Graf, Connor Willis and Jake Scott also come out of the side.
Stand-in Blues captain Joel Robinson is pleased with how the undefeated side comes into the big clash.
"We're pretty much at full strength without Rowey so we are pretty happy with how we are sitting," Robinson said. "Adding Skelly and Sykesy back into our team from last week there is probably 30 overs there so we just have to make sure we do all the little things right.
"We've been improving every game."
Settlers Village decided it was a great way to honour long-term resident Max Knight, who has been awarded legend status with South Wagga, and construction manager Owen Thompson, who is president of Wagga City.
Robinson believes it is a great initiative.
"It is good to recognise those two blokes and from Settlers to put a bit of incentive in," he said.
The cup will be played for each time the two teams clash with South Wagga striking first blood in the Twenty20 to kick off the season.
