Canberra trainer Keith Dryden has ruled out a start with Kosciuszko winner Handle The Truth after the four-year-old was given 63.5 kilograms for the Gundagai feature.
Albury stayer Spunlago was next in line with 61.5kg, prompting Albury trainer Ron Stubbs to declare his stable star an 'unlikely' runner.
Handle The Truth will go to the $140,000 listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on November 30 instead.
Spunlago is also nominated for the $160,000 group three Sandown Stakes (1500m) on Saturday and the $70,000 Donald Cup (1620m) on Sunday.
Stubbs will wait and see where Spunlago is best placed but is leaning towards Donald.
That leaves the Danny Williams-trained Don't Give A Damn as the likely top weight with 60.5kg. Leading Southern District jockey Blaike McDougall has been booked to ride.
Williams was pleasantly surprised with the 60.5kg.
"That's pretty good. Less than I expected," Williams said.
Don't Give A Damn finished seventh in The Kosciuszko and was then fifth, beaten 2.6 lengths, in the Goulburn Cup last start.
Williams also nominated Don't Give A Damn for Newcastle on Saturday but is keen to head to Gundagai.
"The 1400 suits better," he said.
"He's improved since the Goulburn Cup and his work has been good since.
"He races on speed, the 1400 suits and he's carried big weights before."
Only three Southern District Racing Association (SDRA) horses look set to make the field.
Mitch Beer's import Perfect Illusion will run first-up in the race, while Wagga mare Lady Mironton will make the field.
It will then be touch and go for the Trevor Sutherland-trained Gentleman Max, who is 17th in the order of entry. The final field is 12 for the Snake Gully Cup, plus four emergencies.
