Now based at Menangle, Alchin flew the flag for the Australians with Tough Monarch's win in the $100,000 NZ Trotting Free-For-All (1980m).
Driven by Anthony Butt, Tough Monarch ($2.60) led throughout and held off fellow Australian McLovin to score narrowly.
Alchin was on track for the win and described the feeling as 'something else'.
"I can't stop shaking," Alchin told Sky Racing post race.
"I always knew he had the ability to win a big race and to come over here and do it over here is something else so I can't believe it."
Alchin is no stranger to group one success, having won the Redcliffe Yearling Sale 2YO Final with Regulus last year.
