Griffith's Theo Valeri was the star of the run chase as he made a 47 to help chase down ACT's total of 168 with more than 18 overs to spare.
Valeri's 31-ball innings featured four sixes as well as three boundaries.
Former Wagga cricketer Joe Cooke finished unbeaten on 34 while Riverina captain Tom Johnson made 41 at the top of the order.
Valeri also took three wickets to help bowl ACT out in the 47th over.
Former Wagga cricketer Cameron Suidgeest finished with 2-24 off 8.4 overs while Michael Galvin and Ryan Addison also picked up two wickets.
South Wagga's Lachie Skelly didn't bowl in the match.
Fellow Blue Brayden Ambler was the first Riverina batsman to be dismissed, but he got the side off to a bright start with with 14 runs, which included a six, coming from 16 balls.
The five-wicket victory is already an improvement on Riverina's winless effort last year.
Riverina play Greater Illawarra at Goulburn on Saturday before their final clash with Western.
Greater Illawarra come into the clash after a 65-run win over Western to start the competition.
Elliot Hooper made 84 batting at number six to see them finish their 50 overs at 7-225 before also picking with three wickets.
