Breust replaces Peter Little in the role after he guided the Wagga club back to finals in his lone season at the helm.
The 28-year-old is excited for the opportunity.
"It's an absolute honour to be coaching," Breust said.
"Hopefully we can move in the right direction and take it one step further."
Breust is a Kangaroos junior and returned to Group Nine after a stint in Sydney for Albury's premiership success in 2014.
He then spent two seasons with Group 10 club Cowra before linking with Brothers in 2017.
The halfback is looking to use that experience to build the club into a premiership threat.
New Brothers president Mitch Dunn believes Breust is the right man to lead the club forward and is impressed with his vision for 2020 and beyond.
"Cameron's application was very impressive and he's been at the club for a couple of years," Dunn said.
"As a whole club we're excited to hopefully be at capacity next year with 16s, 18s, leaguetag, reserves and firsts.
"It has been a while since we've had all our junior grades and we want them to come into a good environment and encourage them to hang around."
James Hay, Riley Mullins and Tim Humphries have all come on in assistant coaching roles.
Finals is the aim once again, however after crashing out in the last two seasons Brothers are looking to make a bigger mark this time around.
"We've gone from being cellar dwellars to being semi-competitive in the last couple of years with Terry Westblade and Pete but the reality is we've played in three finals games and haven't won once so we've changed things around a bit and will hopefully go to that next step," Dunn said.
Brothers hope to retain the majority of their playing squad from last year however following the coaching call there are doubts over Little's future.
With Breust locked in, Kangaroos and Tumut are the only Group Nine clubs yet to lock in their coaching structure for next season.
