Ambler and South Wagga teammate Lachie Skelly are the only Wagga cricketers selected in the team.
Ambler will open the batting for the side who are looking to improve on last year's performance after failing to win a match.
"It's a different type of cricket, obviously a lot better than Wagga, and it is a good chance to challenge yourself," Ambler said.
The 22-year-old isn't the Blues' first choice wicketkeeper but has filled in this season due to cover injured captain Jeremy Rowe and Warren Clunes at stages throughout the season but it's something he enjoys
Riverina tackles ACT Southern Districts in Queanbeyan on Friday before facing Greater Illawarra and Western in Goulburn.
