And Wagga netball talent Sophie Fawns will get up-close coaching from the Super Netball champions after being one of the youngest players chosen for the NSW Swifts Academy.

Still just 15, the goal attack is one of 24 players selected in the squad, which also includes a host of experienced adult players.

Netball NSW state pathways manager Margaret Hamley said they have followed Fawn's progress for some time.

Fawns was player of the match in Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes' Riverina League grand final win over Collingullie-Glenfield Park in September.

She was also a late call-up for the Australian under-17 squad earlier in the year.

"I've followed her with excitement and every time we see her at state championships she gets better and better," Hamley said.

"One of the things that sets Sophie aside is the joy she has when she plays. You can see it all over her face she loves the challenge of it.

"With the regional girls we want to make sure they stay in touch and they're not losing out, that there is no disadvantage for them compared to the city girls."

Fawns was over the moon with her inclusion and believes it will help take her game to the next level.

"This has been the dream for so long," she said.

"It will be great to work with their coaches and work on my game."

Fawns will travel for Sydney this weekend for testing and she will travel into the city regularly for training and possibly play Sydney premier league netball.

"We want them to stay in their region for as long as they can, but still provide enough exposure to top level competition and training programs as well," Hamley said.

"Not only does she have a great range of skills but she's very coachable as well. It's about a long term focus for her, it's important not to put pressure on them to achieve everything right now.

"The Swifts Academy will facilitate a technical and tactical program for her. She's lucky to have a couple of good coaches in Wagga and they'll liaise with them."
