Coming off a 34-0 win against Wagga Christian College last week, Wagga High coach Jacob Wiscombe is out to cause a surprise at Conolly Rugby Complex on Thursday.
He believes the side has the ability to do so.
"It is a set up but if the boys play well they could definitely challenge Mater Dei and even probably beat them if they turn it on and play well," Wiscombe said.
Wagga High only have two rugby union players in the side, captain Sam Trood and vice-captain Aaron Mead.
They will be some of the keys as the side continues to adapt to the 15-man code.
Wagga High went down to TRAC by three points in the opening round of the competition, but Wiscombe thought having more players at his disposal really helped last week.
"The first week was a bit of a let down but we went out their with no subs and only just went down to track but last week was an awesome response from the boys with a few more in the side," he said.
"They are showing they are there to win it."
Kooringal High School and Wagga Christian College kicks off round three off when they clash at 4.30pm.
Undefeated TRAC then faces Kildare Catholic College at 5.30pm before the clash between Wagga High and Mater Dei concludes the round at 6.30pm.
