Both teams went down at their last starts, with South Wagga Warriors beating the Reds and Turvey Park Blue winning by the minimum margin over the Saints.
The Saints were without two most important players in catcher, Kadison Hofert and third-bagger, Rochelle Harley. They are both expected to be available this week and they, along with the likes of sisters Gemma and Tessa McGlynn, can always be expected to have at least one safe hit a game.
Turvey's recruit pitcher Montana Deacon is adapting to the pace of the game in Wagga, but will be relied upon to restrict the Saints' runs. The Reds have a strong batting lineup with Amanda Lenon, Jade Olsen, Sarah Carter and Kate Looney all in fine form.
Should Saints' pitcher Tessa McGlynn be at her best, the outcome of the game could well be decided by which batting lineup performs the better.
In the other match two last-start winners, South Wagga Warriors and Turvey Park Blue will take on each other.
The Warriors are virtually the premiership side of last season, with only the retired Jane Kearnes missing.
By contrast, the Blues have just three players of last year's grand final team and one of those, Amanda Gooden, is unavailable for this game.
Needless to say the powerful Warriors team with strong batters Montana Kearnes, Sam O'Neill and Layhnee Kearnes leading the way will have the Turvey fielders chasing leather.
