It's the race that stops the nation and the senior residents of BaptistCare Watermark were no different.
While donning their fanciest race day attire, resident Jenny Grear said it was wonderful to get together with the other residents for a special Melbourne Cup lunch served by the Riverina Community College.
Mrs Grear said the retirement village enjoyed organising celebrations for all types of occasion from the Melbourne Cup and St Patrick's Day to New Years Day.
"It is good to get together because we are a great social community," she said.
In other news:
Riverina Community College student Shelby Putland, who is completing her certificate three in hospitality, helped serve the Melbourne Cup lunch for the residents.
She said the hands-on experience of her course is rewarding and it was great to see the residents enjoying themselves.
"We are having conversations with the residents and it is really good, and makes me happy to see them having a good time and enjoying the food," she said.
