The midfielder comfortably won the Lachlan Smith Memorial trophy as first grade's players' player, ending the three-year reign of Jamie Rankin who finished runner-up.
Matthews is looking to get into dentistry and will conduct an interview with an Adelaide university in the near future.
Defender Ben Mavor has been ruled out for next season after snapping his anterior cruciate ligament in the grand final loss to Hanwood.
"I can confirm I'll be coaching and aside from Mavor and possibly Matthews, everyone else will be back," Tinnock said.
"I think he (Matthews) was our most consistent player throughout the year and that reflected in the voting.
"I thought he was probably man of the match in the grand final too, if we had of won I would have voted for him."
Most teams like to erase grand final defeats from their memories, but Tinnock said several teammates have already watched the match again in an effort to go one better next year.
"Time heals old wounds so most of the boys have already watched the match on the stream, and looking for things we can maybe improve on next year," Tinnock said.
Other award winners included Safaa Khalaf and Rana Khato (women's players of the year), Rankin (most valuable player), Ben Camilleri (second grade player of the year), Jesse Fenn-Lavington (third grade player of the year), Shaun Bryder (Patrick Langfield Memorial Award), Tinnock (club person of the year) and men's second grade (team of the year).
