A MAN has been found dead by police during investigations into the disappearance of a woman in the Riverina last week.

The disappearance of Ruth Ridley was reported to officers on October 30, by a family member who held grave concerns for her welfare.

Officers searching for Ruth Ridley, who was last seen in Albury, have revealed they discovered the body of her estranged husband.
Family members were still holding out hope she will be found alive, with the police air wing and SES involved in the case, along with Border officers.
Christeene Ridley said her sister-in-law, a mother-of-three, hadn't contacted family members.
She wrote on social media that she hoped the missing woman would contact her boys soon.
Those staying at Neils Bend told The Border Mail they had seen police at the camping area in recent days.
A couple expressed shock at the discovery of the body.
Walwa residents also said they had seen an increased police presence in the small town recently.

On October 29, police found the body of a 61-year-old man, who is known to Ms Ridley, in a car in north-east Victoria.
Inspector Adrian Telfer said police believe Mrs Ridley, aged 58, travelled from her home in Port Macquarie to Tumbarumba on October 18, in a dark blue Mitsubishi Pajero which was towing a white caravan.
He said the Pajero was found on Shelley Road, Shelley with the man's body inside. The caravan was located in Tumbarumba on October 30.
"On October 24, Ruth Ridley was last seen in the Albury area at a supermarket," Inspector Telfer said,
"That is the last time we can confirm her whereabouts.
"We are still appealing for members of the Riverina or wider community if you have any information to come forward please."
Mrs Ridley is as being Caucasian in appearance, about 175 cm tall with a thin build, fair complexion and blonde hair.

A crime scene was established by Victorian Police who are leading the investigation into the circumstances of the man's death. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police are seeking information regarding any members of the public who may have been camping at or in the vicinity of Neil's Reserve on the Murray River seven kilometres east of Walwa in Victoria on the weekend of October 26 to 27.
"We believe is that Mrs Ridley's vehicle and a white caravan was at Neil's Reserve," Inspector Telfer said.
"If anyone in that area has dashcam footage, please come forward."
Police are searching the area on Monday afternoon.
Inspector Telfer said police and Mrs Ridley's family are extremely concerned for her welfare.
