Five-year-old Cody Wheeler's story of dealing with illness since birth is well-known after airing on the SBS program Struggle Street, and Jess Cronin said it was time to step up and support not only him, but mum Peta, dad Ricky and sister Bree.
"I've known Cody's mum for the last three or so years, I met her through mutual friends and I just find their story quite inspiring," Mrs Cronin said.
"Peta has two young twins and I have kids that age too so when I put myself into their shoes, I know it would be extremely hard to keep on top of finances and everyday life."
Mrs Cronin is organising a chocolate box fundraiser, selling boxes for $60 with the option for buyers to resell their chocolates, keep them for themselves, or even give them out as gifts.
"If they want a box, I'm hoping to order by end of this week - I will order excess but anyone interested, please let me know through the Facebook event page, message me directly on Facebook, or pop into Dollar Curtains and Blinds and I will have spares," she said.
"Anyone and everyone is welcome to get on board."
This is not the first helping hand Mrs Cronin has lent to a family in need.
"I did this for Mia Stewart too about five times and it was really successful - this has been a little slower to pick up but hopefully we can get the ball rolling and help out the family," she said.
"For Mia, we raised about $7000-$8000 over a 12 month block so I'd love to have that again this time, they really deserve all the help they can get."
