"I've always loved learning, learning is a great opportunity for you to understand how things work and where things start," Karin Rezkalla said.
Miss Rezkalla is a student at the Riverina Anglican College, whose favourite subjects are maths, English, sciene and French.
Being bilingual, capable of playing multiple instruments, and participating in many sports has gotten her labelled a 'child genius' and earned her a place on the SBS show of the same name.
"I can't say much, but it was a really great experience filming the program," she said.
"I was a little bit surprised that I got chosen but at the same time I really wanted it so it wasn't that much of a shock."
The television show features a select few children aged 8 to 12, which Miss Rezkalla was at the time of filming, and tests their limits of knowledge.
The aptly-named child genius said the show allowed her to meet like minded people.
"When I go to school, I'm definitely a bit different from all the other kids and my friends, but I can tell them random facts and they always think that's cool," she said.
"We aren't always on the same train of thought, but when I was on child genius, everyone immediately clicked, we all knew what each other were thinking and what our limits were so I made lots of friends."
Miss Rezkalla was also set on breaking down the public's perception of what it means to be a genius.
"A lot of people think you can't be sporty and smart at the same time, that's a stereotype that isn't really fair so I try and do as many sports as possible," she said.
"Sometimes I get tired but mostly it helps me manage my time and focus on what's important."
Playing basketball, swimming, tennis and karate are just a handful of Miss Rezkalla's non-academic talents alongside playing the piano and flute.
"I am fluent in Arabic and English, learnt German and am currently learning French too," she said.
"You just get used to it really, it becomes routine."
In other news:
Known to a few of her teachers as 'Killer' due to her talents in the classroom, Miss Rezkalla hopes to pursue science as a future career.
"If I had to choose one thing to focus my studies on in the future, it would be science because I want to be an astronaut and I feel like that is the first step," she said.
She even taught The Daily Advertiser a lesson in field, sharing a fun fact.
"It takes eight minutes for the sun's light to reach us on earth, so if the sun exploded, we wouldn't know for at least eight minutes," Miss Rezkalla said.
Her mother Mourine Rezkalla said it was no surprise Karin was recognsied as a genius.
"She has always been smart and gifted and always needs more, she doesn't stop at certain levels, she's always eager to go above and beyond," she said.
"She works hard and excels at everything she does."
The four part SBS series Child Genius will air weekly from November 20 at 8.30pm.
