Although the defending champions were missing their Young Matildas contingent and international stars, the Jets were unlucky not to walk away with a draw after a match played in torrential rain.
"In the first half we had a lot of chances on goal, we just have to be more clinical and put the ball in the back of the net," Wheeler said.
"We have to keep the ball more, keep it simple and go from there.
"It wasn't the win we wanted but there was some positives and we had some girls sidelined with injuries. We can make semis and anything can happen.
"We can take a lot out of it, good and bad."
