The Wagga woman has been recycling everything from old drink or food cans to pieces of scrap wire and turning them into floral pieces of art, each uniquely hand crafted.

"It's all about recycling, I hate throwing things away and wasting things that can easily be used for something else," Ms Sussyer said.

The self-taught artist said she began creating the tin flowers about two years ago.

"I injured myself and could no longer work, so to be honest this all kind of started out of sheer boredom," she said.

"It does calm me though, it takes me to a place of my own where I can focus on one thing."

Each piece takes a lot of time, effort and concentration to create, according to Ms Sussyer.

"It tends to be the planning part that takes me the longest, and figuring out how I will make the correct shape and size," she said.

"I make five or 10 at a time for each style, but one of the bigger sunflowers takes about four days from start to finish."

While the process remains a hobby of hers, Ms Sussyer does hope to branch out into selling her creations.

"I have sold a few at a rodeo once and I was surprised at how well they went, some even went back to homes in South Australia and Western Australia, all over the place," she said.

"I'm hoping to sell them again soon before Christmas too to give me space to make more, so they will be available for people to purchase from my home."
